Take a Peek Inside our Seedling Classroom
Our 2-1/2-year-olds are filled with energy and brimming with wonder and curiosity about the world around them. With play-based learning and social interaction, we help them make discoveries about themselves, their classmates, the school community, and the world. They’re also quickly developing their sense of independence. We offer many exciting and developmentally appropriate opportunities for them to explore this growing individuality.
Our Seedling class is a wonderful place for children to build the routines and self-help skills that all independent learners need. Each day’s schedule provides opportunities for children to explore and express themselves through art, music and movement, language, math, dramatic play, and hands-on science and creative activities. Children in this classroom immerse themselves in the work of childhood, which we believe is play. After all, what child doesn't love painting, sorting, singing, building and squishing dough?
Our early childhood teachers help each child develop a strong social language through modeling how to have conversations, express feelings, share ideas and ask questions. The daily routine, which begins with arrival in the classroom, morning choice time, and many more creative activities, provides a model for what the children will experience as they continue their education at RCPL
